KOFI DAY OF SERVICE - 2026

Tuesday, September 22, 2026

25 Cities - 345 Volunteers - 780 Hours of Service

Volunteers made a powerful impact through a wide range of service initiatives this year:

  • In kitchens, they prepared and packaged thousands of meals for delivery.

  • At food banks and youth centers, they sorted and packed boxes for seniors, kids, and families in need

  • Other groups supported families by sorting donated children’s clothing, assembling furniture and assisting with grocery shopping.

  • Outdoor teams got their hands dirty harvesting vegetables and removing weeds and invasive species.

Kofi Burbridge was an extraordinary artist whose generosity, talent, and spirit touched countless lives. A graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts, he was a passionate advocate for music education and a constant source of inspiration, both on and off the stage.

Born on September 22, 1961, Kofi passed away on February 15, 2019, due to complications from a cardiac condition. A two-time Grammy Award-winning keyboardist, flautist, composer, and arranger, he shared his musical gifts as a member of Aquarium Rescue Unit, The Derek Trucks Band, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. He was also a guiding force to his younger brother, bassist Oteil Burbridge—now a member of Dead & Company. Kofi’s legacy lives on in the music he created, the lives he touched, and the artists he inspired.
